2017 Upcoming Shows
East Coast Miniature Horse Club
Welcome to the home of the Old Dominion Miniature Horse Club of Virginia (ODMHC). The club was formed in 2011 to promote and stimulate the sale, breeding, exhibition, and ownership of the Miniature Horse in Virginia and beyond.
We now have 70+ members and over 35 farms and members from 8 different states. We will continue to recruit new members as it will make our club stronger. Having members from 8 different states, keeps us informed of the needs of miniature horse owners in those areas.
One of the goals of the Club was to bring a sanctioned AMHA/AMHR show back to Virginia along with Virginia-Bred Futurity classes. 2013 we had The Summer Sizzle it was well attended by participants their families and spectators. We had over 150 horses at the show. Horses from New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey and Virginia competed, some to qualify for the AMHR Nationals and AMHR World Show. The 2014 show The Spring Thaw turned out to be bigger than our 2013 show we had over 200 AMHA and AMHR horses. The 2015 Spring Thaw show also had over 200 horses. We look forward to our 2016 show.
We moved to a new Venue for the 2016 Spring Thaw Show the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Va. The show was well attended and set new records in attendance.
The 2017 Spring Thaw Show will stay at the Virginia Horse Center. The dates will be May 19, 20, 21 and possibly the evening of the 18th to keep us from running into mid-night like last year. This will be our 5th anniversary show, we will be offering special incentives to commemorate this event.
We also met another goal which was to make it affordable as a club to be able to advertise in MHW and The Journal. Collectively as a group we were able to do this. So, watch for our ads to appear in Miniature Horse World and The Journal. For members who missed out on this great opportunity, contact us to be included in the next issues.
Thank you for visiting and we hope you will consider joining us in all of our exciting ventures.
